The Edge Edition designed to handle high loads of audio/visual data traffic, freeing up the Origin servers to manage application logic. The Edge Edition will cache audio and video content at the network edge as users request it and send it directly to the end user, enabling rapid video delivery. The Edge Edition transfers application data as well as audio/video data, allowing functionality such as live stream splitting, route management, and large scale data casting applications. The Edge Edition has no simultaneous connection limits, since the end user ultimately connects to the Origin Edition. However, since the Edge Edition handles the "heavy lifting" of hardware intensive media delivery, it is recommended that an Edge Edition have no more than 600 simultaneous connections.
