Succes!
Ryu
Niels: First of all, let me tell you what a great honor it is to have this interview with you, Pauline. I know that all the contenders of the Miss Beachproof 2009 contest will be pleased to hear your stories.
Pauline: Niels, thanks for inviting me. This contest sounds like fun and I am honored to be one of the people to give some inspiration for the ladies...
Niels: In the spring a lot of ladies are making their debut in the gym. I have always heard that most woman have trouble taking that first step. Most of them are wondering how you got involved with training weights and what you first experience in the gym was like?
Pauline: I was really intimidated as well. It was a big deal. I had never been to a gym and it felt like everybody would notice that I was new and all eyes were going to be on me... LOL... I started weight training because I picked up a muscle and fitness magazine and saw fitness models on the cover. It looked really cool so I bought the magazine and found out the way to get that body was to hit the weights. So I did. And never stopped. This was 10 years ago now... Time flies by.
Niels: Wow, 10 years already. That’s a great accomplishment. Everyone who has seen your pictures and website knows that you like to workout hard. Heavy deadlifts, squats and bench presses are no exception in your training routine. When it comes to training with (heavy)weights, most women are afraid of putting on that “bulky’’ type of mass and becoming the new Arnold in a matter of days. What are the physical en mental benefits you experienced with your type of training?
Pauline: Oh bench presses I only do with dumbbells though! I am too protective with my shoulder joints to do a regular bench press with barbell. You don’t get bulky if you don’t eat yourself bulky. The key for women in general is to diet strictly at the same time. That way you lose body fat and get smaller or tighter, never bulky. Since I through the years got denser I look bigger but weight wise it is about the same as when I got started. However you can see the before, mid and after photos on my blog.
I like training heavy, but I use good form. Cheating means I will risk injuries or come to a physical limit since I did not pay attention to what muscles I recruit. It is not powerlifting, it is weight lifting. It is about form and how to do it. That is why I don’t care for numbers, I mean, I don’t compare myself to what other people use because usually people train with sloppy form and I don’t. So that will make me look weaker LOL. In squats, I am not that strong because I prefer range of motion and not just go down to almost 90 and call it a good squat. If I did, I’d use way more weight on the bar but it would not help my physique. Just smash it and break it.

Niels: Well ladies, there you have it! Form is of more importance then just heavy weights. So, I think that most women would like to know more about your offseason and pre-contest training routines? Do you prefer certain weight training methods like H.I.T, Split , Bill Star etc.?
Pauline: I train the same way throughout the year because I don’t have seasons. I never get out of shape, I am ready to be on stage any day. That is what my fighter diet concept is all about. I train with a purpose and that is to create a nice physique. There are different ways of doing it but I do the same things all the time. Basic stuff. The add ons are prehab exercises and functional ones so I stay injury free.
Niels: Could you tell us a little bit more about the fighter diet concept and how it all started? Does it involve certain diets , routines or supplements etc. ? (Check out Pauline's new website and blog on http://www.fighterdiet.com)
Pauline: It is a concept made up from what I do myself and have my clients do as well. It is a lifestyle....”
Pauline’s Mission!
I fully believe in the theory that there is no absolutely true, perfect and flawless diet and workout concepts which work for everyone. I believe there are many roads that lead to the goal, you just need to choose a path you feel passionate about. Passion is of utmost importance. Why? Because you will need to stick to and be loyal to whatever you decide to go for in order to succeed. It´s like that with almost all desires in life, so nothing new under the sun.
I will never state that I have scientific proof or research backup on many theories of mine. I don´t lie so it´s pretty easy to say it´s only my very own philosophy. I don´t really care if something I believe in is bullet proof or makes perfect sense, as long as it works and it makes me happy I´m cool and content!
My passion lies in perfecting my physique and keep on building a strong mind with a superhero´s discipline, dedication, patience and willpower. I aim to keep on doing that and hopefully in my pursuit I will inspire people to follow.
In general, I am inclined to extremes, to ultimates, to fanatic strategies. it fascinates me, keeps me on the edge. And that´s where I love to be.
If you like feeling comfortable and not doing more than average and are happy with settling for average results, well, don´t read my rambles, I assume it will just annoy you.
All I want is to inspire, to stay inconvenient and always ask for more.
If this sounds like something you enjoy too: welcome to Fighter Diet.”
Niels: To get in tip top shape, the contenders will have to follow a strict diet. What are the ''do'' and ''don'ts'' in your diet? And how do you combine your diets with your social life?
Pauline: well, Niels, it is all about practicing discipline! To find out all about the fighter diet, go buy the ebook in my webshop!;-)
Niels, go to channel Paulinefitness.com on youtube. New clips from yesterday.

Niels: Lol, love the oatmeal video! Now that's eating for real, ladies! For nutrition and supplements the readers can order your e-books on the website, but what about preperations for a photoshoot? The contenders will have to make 3 photo's in totall. What kind of tip and tricks would you like the share with them?
Pauline: Get a tan, get a good photographer who knows how to set up good light AND practice your poses so you nail them!!!
