Alrightt a little late on posting the results of the IFBB Greater Gulf States competition but here it is.
I ended up taking 2nd to Arya Saffaie (man in the black/red shorts furthest to the left in the pic). Arya looked aesthetic af and definitely will do good at the Olympia in 3 months. This was an awesome comp with 26 great IFBB Physique Pros.
Not gonna lie though i'm pretty disappointed with the results of the competition. I was really gunning for that first place finish and securing a position on the Olympia stage this year. If you don't strive for victory in sports I have no idea what you're doing competing in sports lol. I've never been one to compete just for the fun of it.
At this point in my pro career I think it's time for me to retire from competing and focus on bigger and better things. I don't want to say i've wasted my time competing, because these comps have helped make me who I am today in the fitness industry. But imo it seems competing is an endless spiral that always ends in disappointment due to things like politics and judges never being on the same page of what they actually want in this division.. Men's physique is a great addition to the bodybuilding league, but there sure are some changes that could be made to really make this division the new classic bodybuilding that we all love and want back. As competitors we invest so much of our lives into prepping for these competitions just to end up having others judge us. At the end of the day my ideal sport is where an individual determines their final outcome. Through sheer hard work, practice and a champions mindset. Some prep for 12+ weeks (and train for 20+ years) just to have another determine what they want based on their personal preferences or bias. It's times like this that I miss competing in sports like track or wrestling where losing comes down to you and only you. Not someone else. No excuses, no placing the blame on others. The reason why you lost is because, you lost.. Not someone determining your outcome. Individual sports are great because really you can't place the blame on anyone but yourself. Bodybuilding in a way is an 'individual' sport taking into consideration the hours you personally invest into the gym and the 24/7 diet months before the big day, but at the end of the competition is it really such an individual sport if someone else judges you and places you where they want.
It's time for me to move down to LA (which I will finally be doing next month) and continuing my career to bigger and better things. There is a lot more to come from me than just these comps

Op basis van deze 2 poses is Jeff hier wel ziek benadeeld in beoordeling, probleem is alleen dat foto's het beeld enorm kunnen vertekenen...

Eerste foto lijkt hij sowieso het beste op te staan, hij is wel ook de enige die er een meer 'aesthetic' side pose doet. Ook staat hij hier in het beste licht lijkt me. Op basis van de rugfoto zou ik hem maar op plaats 4 zetten. Hij lijkt het droogste te staan, maar er zit weinig symmetrie in zijn rug tov de anderen.
De plaatsing is correct op basis van andere foto's die ik heb gezien.
Hij zal uiteraard ook geen foto's posten waar de rest beter opstaat dan hem.

ook op andere foto's vond ik hem toch wel erg sterk maar goed.
verder kan je spreken over de symmetrie, die dus ook veel minder goed te zien is omdat de rest toch op een wat hoger VP staat.
