Hoeveel dagen ben je opgestaan
Keek je naar buiten
En zag je hetzelfde als je eerder hebt gezien
De schemering, wind, regen of zon

Hoeveel dagen ben je opgestaan
Begon je jouw ritueel
Maakte je gebruik van je gewoontes
Om je klaar te maken voor de dag

Met gedachtes
Die telkens komen en gaan

Zoals de dag van vandaag

Vandaag is anders
Anders dan alle andere dagen hiervoor

Vandaag heb je een keuze te maken
Een keuze aan welke gedachtes je waarde geeft

De keuze die jou is gegeven
Bestaan uit twee begaanbare gedachte-wegen

Ik gun jou de keuze van die ene weg
Waar enkel en alleen die gedachtes wonen
Van de herinneringen en zegeningen

Omdat op de weg van gedachtes aan missen en pijn
Huizen zijn gebouwd
Waarin je eeuwig kunt schuilen en huilen

Op het eerste huis van al de hele rij is een bord getimmerd

Denkend aan Holland

zie ik breede rivieren

traag door oneindig

laagland gaan,

rijen ondenkbaar

ijle populieren

als hooge pluimen

aan den einder staan;

en in de geweldige

ruimte verzonken

de boerderijen

verspreid door het land,

boomgroepen, dorpen,

geknotte torens,

kerken en olmen

in een grootsch verband.

de lucht hangt er laag

en de zon wordt er langzaam

in grijze veelkleurige

dampen gesmoord,

en in alle gewesten

wordt de stem van het water

met zijn eeuwige rampen

gevreesd en gehoord.
