Voor de rest de claims die mensen maken dat er oestrogeen in soja zit, die
hebben gedeeltelijk gelijk. In soja zitten stoffen die heel erg lijken op oestrogeen
, maar dit is geen oestrogeen en het is ook veel en veel zwakker dan echt oestrogeen

Dr Michael Morton, senior scientist at the BioClinical Research Services Laboratory in Wales, UK, helps to put this action into perspective: “A recent report demonstrated that in laboratory studies, genistein, the main isoflavone plant oestrogen in soya, binds to beta oestrogen receptors similar to tamoxifen, a drug used to help prevent and treat women with breast cancer.”
Based on scientific evidence from more than fifty independent studies, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now allowing manufacturers of foods that have a minimum of 6.25g of soy protein per serving, to claim on the pack of a food or drink product that “25g of soy protein a day, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease”.

Theoretically, exposure to high levels of soy phytoestrogens could alter the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis in men. Thus, three dietary intervention studies have reported the effects of soy or soy phytoestrogen consumption on reproductive hormones in men. Dr. R.C. Habito and co-workers performed a randomized crossover study of 42 men with a mean age of 45.7 years who consumed 150 grams of lean meat or 290 grams of tofu daily for four weeks. Blood concentrations of estradiol, total and free testosterone and coïtus hormone-binding globulin did not differ between the groups. These results are generally consistent with those of Dr. J.H. Mitchell and co-workers, who found no changes in blood concentrations of estradiol, testosterone, follicle-stimulating hormone or luteinizing hormone in men consuming a tablet containing 40 milligrams per day of soy isoflavones. In summary, there may be small effects of soy consumption on steroid hormones.
Wat valt op te merken is dat het testosteron peil niet daalt !!!!
Voor de rest heb ik me pa eventjes gebeld, die is sportvoedingswetenschapper, en
die vertelde me dat er een hele grote lobbie is vanuit de zuivelindustrie die alle
negatieve soja berichten wil uitlichten om hun eigen markt te promoten, er is echter
geen enkel echt bewijs geleverd voor de claims dat soja supplementatie negatief zou zijn voor mannelijke atleten, dit is puur suggestief !!!!!!!!!!
Dus Naomi eten die soja :-)
