waarom underclocked?? vanwege de stabiliteit (kan me namelijk herinneren dat de 1300 vrij onstabiel was)?

Ja vanwege de stabiliteit. Ik heb de M830 van PCchips als moederboard. Lekker goedkoop. Doet het niet in ieder geval. De chipset raakt overhit waneer ik hem op 133 FSB laat draaien. Simpel ventilatortje over de chipset zou het verhelpen maar dan nog is mijn pc hopeloos.

Ik heb gisteren de Beta 2 gespeeld maar loopt nog niet soepeltjes

Doom vraagt echt heel erg veel. Mijn specs zijn niet slecht:

Athlon 64 3200+
Ati Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb
1gb Ram

Het was nog niet eens een Beta, maar een Alpha van 2 (!!) jaar oud. Dat zegt dus geen **** over de performance.

In de tussentijd is hij echt bruut optimized hoor.

De geschatte specs:

A: Id software did tell us that 1GHz CPU 256MB RAM GeForce or Radeon 7xxx series card will be the minimum requirements, it is the minimum and I wouldn't expect you to be able to play with very many, if any of the features turned on and you wouldn't be leaving the world of 640 x 480

As a reference of what we think:

• 3+ GHz CPU, GeForceFX 5800 and above class GPU, 512+MB RAM RAM - Great system, framerates and gameplay

• 2-3 GHz CPU, GeForce 4 class GPU, 512MB RAM - With that kind of setup you'll be fine and enjoy playing Doom3

• 1-2 GHz CPU, GeForce 3 class GPU, 256-512MB RAM - average system, average framerates

• 1 GHz CPU, GeForce 2 class GPU, 256MB RAM - Playing at medium settings won't do it

A Pentium 4 or Athalon XP, 512 megs of RAM and a video card such as a Nvidia FX 5900 or a Radeon 9800 and sound card that can handle 5.1 surround sound will give you the full experience of DOOM III.

IT'S DONE!!!!!!!

Yes, this is the official word that DOOM 3 has been code released and has been approved for manufacturing!
It won't be long now until the anticipation ends and the PH34R begins ;-) We literally just hung up with
Activision and have confirmed that our latest release candidate has been mutually approved and is finally
GOLD. Thanks to everyone for their patience (yeah right! =) and for everyone at id, Activision and our
numerous partners for helping us create what I believe is absolutely the best game we have ever made.

So, the next question is release dates. Retailers in the States will be allowed to pick up games starting
at 12:01 AM on August 3rd. The official street date is actually August 5th in the U.S.A., but some of
your favorite stores will probably have it early for those of you who have to have it first. Check with
your local retailer for that information.

Internationally, the game will take a few more days to make it to the store shelves. The UK will probably get it first, on or about August 6th. Everywhere else will probably be Friday, August 13th (que Twilight Zone Theme) or close to that date, with just a few exceptions (e.g. Russia and Poland). This isn't
because we don't have love for you folks outside the U.S., but the localization and manufacturing process
takes a bit longer outside the U.S. where we will have JVC run 24/7 to get the units built. I guess the
European manufacturers prefer to give their employees nights and weekends off. Go figure!

The champagne is flowing here at id and smiles abound!

I'll update again with some DOOM 3 preparation tips (not what hardware to buy - you'll have to wait for
a programmer for that sort of thing). In the meantime, I want to see those "DOOM 3 GOLD!!!" threads set
new records for swamping message board servers, destroying productivity, and post counts ;-)

Ik ga m'n PC weer eens goed overclocken ipv te upgraden. Ik heb er al zat geld inzitten, dus op deze manier wil ik er alles uithalen straks.

Ik ga alleen op zoek naar een 5.1 headset (ze schijnen echt te bestaan!). Heb nl. net aan plaats voor 3.1 geluid, maar 5.1 kan ik niet netjesneerzetten. Misschien dus dat een 5.1 headset voor mij (en anderen?) de oplossing kan zijn voor surround sound issues.

Gatver dit spel wordt eng, dat wordt weer een stapel nieuwe onderbroeken kopen!

Anyway, als ik dit spel een beetje wil draaien zal ik het wel bij mn pa spelen, die heeft een 3000+ met een radeon 9600 staan, wat het wat beter zal doen als mijn 1800+ met geforce 4mx. Geen zin om te upgraden, kost me veel te veel centen. :rolleyes:
