Wellicht jongens v.d. Division "Florian Geyer". Wat er nog overbleef v.d. SS Kavallerie Brigade diende als nucleus.
During the late summer of 1941 the SS Kavallerie Brigade participated in a "pacification operation" in the area of the Pripet Marshes in the course of which one of its regiments reported the shooting of 259 Russian soldiers and the execution of 6504 civilians.
Toen onder bevel van H. Fegelein.

Hij was met Gretl Braun getrouwd. Geen idee of hem dat familie maakt?

They kill them only with their knives. There was one man who was wounded. He allowed his arm to be bandaged and then went on to finish off 17 more of the enemy with his left hand. Cases also occur were they cut the heart out of the enemy." Hitler, apparently annoyed by Fegelein's gory intrusion into a high-level military conference, responded with an abrupt "Das ist Wurst."

On 18 July 1944, during a strategy conference in the Wolfsschanze,[6] a fly began buzzing around the room, allegedly landing on Hitler's shoulder and on the surface of a map several times. Irritated, Hitler ordered Darges to dispatch the nuisance. Darges suggested that, as it was an airborne pest, the job should go to the Luftwaffe adjutant, Nicolaus von Below. Hitler took Darges aside, dismissed him on the spot and had him transferred to the Eastern Front.[3] Another version of this story claims Darges was merely snickering as Hitler looked up from the map.[7] Yet another version of Darges' dismissal and transfer by Hitler involves his refusal to marry Eva Braun's sister Gretl Braun, who was pregnant at the time.[8]

Veel gelul trouwens in de tweede reportage. Zo was het nooit de bedoeling dat de Waffen SS, op termijn, de Wehrmacht zou gaan vervangen. Het moest een elite gemilitariseerde politiemacht worden in vredestijd. Ze werden naar het front gestuurd om krediet op te bouwen bij de Duitse bevolking.

De echte uitbreiding begon pas in 1943. Dat er uiteindelijk 38 "divisies" waren moet met een korreltje zout genomen worden. Sommigen waren waardeloos, kwamen qua manschappen niet in de buurt van een divisie of werden zelfs nooit ingezet.
