Here's how to fix/bypass the problem without changing to a legal Key.
1st way:
Before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:
javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')
It turns off the trigger for the key check.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
2nd way:
Go to the Windows Update site and let them install the Windows Genuine Advantage, via the Active X command ...... then close Internet Explorer.
Then open Internet Explorer
1. Go to Tools, Manage Add-Ons
2. There's a drop down bar which allows you to view the add-ons
currently being used by IE.
3. Disable the Windows Genuine Advantage
4. Restart Explorer and go to Windows Update
You may get a pop up saying it's disabled but it fades after a second or
so. Updates then commence.
You should be able to continue to download windows updates now .
