April 4, 2013 – NORTH KOREA - The United States has deployed a battalion equipped to deal with nuclear, biological and chemical attacks in South Korea after North Korea threatened to attack the US with ‘nuclear weapons.’ Reports say about 250 soldiers from the US Army 23rd chemical battalion have returned to South Korea. The troops are stationed at Camp Stanley in Uijeongbu, north of Seoul. Meanwhile, North Korea’s Committee for Peaceful Reunification of Korea (CPRK) has said that the deployment is a revelation of the criminal attempt of the United States to impose nuclear disasters on the Korean nation. “During the Korean War, the US indiscriminately used germ and chemical weapons against the Korean people, stunning the world,” the CPRK stated on Wednesday. “The US now seeks to make such crimes against humanity repeat.” War of words escalated between Washington and Pyongyang after the participation of nuclear-capable US B-52s and B-2 stealth bombers in the United States’ joint military drills with South Korea. The North Korean Army said earlier on Thursday that it received final approval for a nuclear attack on the United States in response to Washington’s threats. The General Staff of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) said in a statement that the threats by the US would be “smashed by… cutting-edge smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear strike means.” The Pentagon said it would deploy an advanced anti-missile system to the Pacific island of Guam. The deployment of the missile system is a “precautionary move to strengthen our regional defense posture against the North Korean regional ballistic missile threat,” the Pentagon stated. The anti-missile system includes a truck-mounted launcher, a complement of interceptor missiles, an AN/TPY- 2 tracking radar and an integrated fire control system. –Press TV

North Korea says it is prepared to use “smaller, lighter and diversified” nuclear weapons if it is attacked by the US or neighboring South Korea.
The Thursday statement by Pyongyang was reportedly aimed at rebuffing the widely publicized US intelligence assessments that North Korean nuclear arms are too bulky and heavy to be deployed on ballistic missiles, The Los Angeles Times reports Thursday.
According to the report, although the US still does not believe that North Korean missiles can reach the American mainland and even its Hawaii Island state, its recent deployment of missile interceptors to Guam reflects “growing concerns” that North Korea has improved its missile capabilities in recent years.
Citing a “senior US official” who spoke on condition of anonymity, the daily ties the installation of the anti-missile systems in Guam to major American concerns that Pyongyang has made improvements in the range of its ballistic missiles, “possibly giving it the ability to hit the island.”
The North Korean military statement further threatened to react against a US aggression with “powerful practical military counteractions,” including nuclear weapons.
“We formally inform the White House and Pentagon that the ever-escalating US hostile policy toward [North Korea] and its reckless nuclear threat will be smashed by the strong will of all the united service personnel and people and cutting-edge smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear strike means,” the North Korean statement said. “The US had better ponder over the prevailing grave situation.”
The development comes as the American military announced in a statement on Wednesday that it would deploy to its Guam Island the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense System (THAAD), which includes a truck-mounted launcher, a complement of interceptor missiles, an AN/TPY- 2 tracking radar and an integrated fire control system.
The Pentagon further described the deployment as a “precautionary move to strengthen our regional defense posture against the North Korean regional ballistic missile threat.”

Op 00:46 seconden zegt die gast dat N-K pissig is vanwege die B2 bommenwerpers.
Het klopt misschien dat ze hier pissig om werden, maar NK wordt overal pissig om. Als je ziet welke doelen die Noord-Koreanen in de afgelopen 15 jaar hebben aangevallen, dan hebben ze helemaal geen recht van spreken om zich 'geprovoceerd' te voelen.
Idioot, het is niet gewoon een kwestie van cijfers (voor de 10,71ste keer). De VS kan op relatief korte termijn zo veel meer naar Korea sturen en 10x zo geavanceerd. Je kan op fighter jets, tanks enzo rekenen op 10 verliezen voor NK voor 1 aan Amerikaanse zijde.
Dit is in essentie ook een tank. Zet er zo 1000 tegen 10 M1 Abrams. 0 M1 kapot waarschijnlijk... Maar ok die van NK zijn nog nipt iets beter.
Zoek eens de gevechtsgeschiedenis op van de M1 Abrams. Kijk eens wat die doen met tanks gelijkaardig aan die van NK... en dan spreek ik over de sterkste tanks van NK. Vele zijn nog oudere modellen die van het kleinste bompje van tegenwoordig al uiteenvallen.
Dat bewijst hoe idioot je bent. Iedereen weet dat het niet gewoon een kwestie van cijfers is.
Zet die 35 onderzeeërs van NK tegen 1 moderne van de VS en volgens mij verslaat die van de VS ze allemaal op hen gemakje...

Aantallen zeggen niet veel in deze situatie, neem bv de Golfoorlog, 131 gesneuvelde militairen aan de kant van Amerika en ruim 35.000 aan Iraakse kant, kunnen we het wel over een ander land en situatie hebben, maar alle oorlogen in de geschiedenis van Amerika zijn overduidelijk weinig slachtoffers gevallen, mede dankzij de moderne techniek en strategie van aanvallen.

Dacht dat tijdens de ardennenoffensief alleen al in dat half jaar al 50k Amerikaanse slachtoffers zijn gevallen. Vind ik vrij veel.
