July 26, 2005 - IGN FilmForce is proud to present the online exclusive teaser trailer for the forthcoming Doom motion picture. The Universal Pictures film, based on the best-selling first person shooter of the same name and its subsequent videogame sequels, isn't due in theaters until October 21st, but you can get an early peek here.

Gaming enthusiasts should be pleased with the teaser, which shows a number of scenes that seem to clearly and intentionally evoke the Doom gaming experience. And the film's tone appears to be true to the original game and its two follow-ups.
Particularly noteworthy are the movie's creatures, suitably reminiscent of the baddies you've gleefully blown to bits in the game, and skillfully realized by make-up effects master Stan Winston and his creative team – the same studio that created the monsters for Alien, Predator and many other creature features.
The Doom movie, in case you've been gaming so intensely that you haven't heard, follows John Grimm (Karl Urban), a Marine nicknamed "Reaper," who travels with his squad to a Martian research facility where all hell is breaking loose.
Sarge, played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, leads the team to the facility, owned and operated by the Union Aerospace Corporation, where researchers have just discovered the final 10% of the human genome... but with unexpected side effects. Specifically, residents are turning up dead or missing, frayed and bloody lab coats are found, and severed limbs are discovered. It seems that the project has somehow unleashed monstrous, infernal beings and now it's up to John to destroy them and save the day.
