"hello, I'm very interested in your "Perpetual Bar/Federstahl-Gewichtheberstange, mit Drehlagerung, 28 mm, 20 kg, mit Messingbuchsen u. Nadellager, lebenslange Garantie" (249 euro)

I would like to know what the tensile strenght is in psi. Does it have a whip when squatting with 250 kilo? Does it bend a little bit when deadlifting with 250 kilo's? Lots of people on my forum are interested is this bar because for a whole categorie of people the rogue bar is just too expensive.
Thanks in advance."

"Hi Christian,
The PSI wouldnt give the full story and thats why the chinese dont really use that measurement with their barbells, many manufacturers just use a big sounding number and hope it impresses customers
I think its good to look at the usage realistically. If you are squatting 250+ on a regular basis it might be worth it to look into more specialist barbells. We use needle bearing barbell and perpetual bar at the warehouse gym to deadlift and squat 250 and more on a regular basis, and patrik squatted 360 with the needle bearing bar here:

terry hollands (britains strongest man on many years in the past and WSM competitor) also deadlifted 400kg with our needle bearing barbell and said it had no problems with the weight.
but we dont recommend it

You can see the bend there. It does bend for instance when i squat with 235 and numbers like that but not a crazy amount, but definitely more than texas power bar.
When you get strong enough it starts making more sense to start investing on specialist barbells, like texas power bar for powerlifting movements, and then taishan/pendlay for weightlifting moves (if they are big too). Rogue would struggle with those weights too for sure.
Long reply to your straight forward question, sorry

its because your strength fits into that gray area where graduating to a specialist bar starts making sense, but not yet in the area where it is absolutely necessary. I just did block pull reps with 280 on a perpetual bar today, so i fall foul of my own advice here too to be honest
Many thanks,
Joni"
