Bij deze studies ga je ervan uit dat je lijnzaadolie alleen gebruikt voor ALA---> omzetting naar EPA/DHA die idd weinig efficient is, al helemaal in mannen( vrouwen zijn daar beter in). Maar ik heb onderzoek gezien waaruit bleek dat lijnzaadolie hart- en vaatziekten bijna kon halveren:
"In a smaller cohort of more than 6,000 U.S. men, those with the highest intakes of ALA had a risk of death from CHD over the next ten years that was 40% lower than those with the lowest intakes
(78). In contrast, two studies in Europe found no association between dietary ALA intake and CHD risk
(79, 80). Additionally, in the Nurses' Health Study (76,763 women followed for 18 years), dietary intake of ALA was not associated with fatal CHD or nonfatal
myocardial infarction but was inversely associated with sudden cardiac death (see
below)
(81). Although not as consistent as the evidence supporting higher intakes of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids from seafood, the results of most prospective studies suggest that higher dietary ALA intakes (2-3 g/day) are associated with significant reductions in CHD risk, especially in populations with low levels of fish consumption
(82). Unlike LA, the cardioprotective effects of higher ALA intakes do not appear to be related to changes in serum
lipid profiles. A meta-analysis of 14 randomized controlled trials concluded that ALA supplementation had no effect on total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, or triglyceride levels
(83). However, several controlled clinical trials found that increasing ALA intake decreased serum concentrations of
C-reactive protein (CRP), a marker of
inflammation that is strongly associated with the risk of cardiovascular events, such as MI and stroke
(84-86)."

Maar goed, je ziet dus hoe ingewikkeld het is, en wetenschap zichzelf enorm kan tegenspreken....
