Productivity Tip: Your morning routine
We all have those mornings: the alarm clock jolts us awake, and then we stumble around for the next hour trying to get everything done before we head to work (or to train, or wherever.) You got to get your first meal in, get showered and dressed, pack up whatever meals you need to take with you, get your change of clothes for the gym, etc. A bodybuilder has a lot more that needs to be done in the morning than a regular person, and a frantic, rushed mindset is not the way to start your day properly. But it doesn’t have to be that way!
Developing a consistent routine is important for SO many reasons. It will reduce stress, make your mornings more enjoyable, make the rest of your day more productive, and save energy for where you really need it: at the gym.
All it takes is a little extra time the night before to make it happen. 20 minutes or less. Try this before you go to bed:
1- Pack whatever meals you need for the next day into one bag, in the fridge.
2- Get your gym bag with whatever gym gear you need packed and placed by the front door.
3- Pick out your clothes for the next day BEFORE you go to sleep, and hang them or lay them out.
Now imagine if you do those three things the night before what the next morning would be like. You get up and hop in the shower. When you’re finished you throw on the clothes that are ready for you. Walk into the kitchen and get your first meal in. Grab your food from the fridge, and head out the door, picking up your gym bag as you go out. Easy. Organized. Way less stressful. And you start your day with a more productive mindset.
I know things come up where this can’t happen every day. Especially with me because I’m constantly traveling. But when it’s time to start prep, I nail things down like this pretty much every day.
Give it a try and let me know what you think!
