I think that which leads most people to think that 2-weekers, or 3-weekers in this case, are useless is the fact that in such a little amount of time you usually can't acquiere enough VISUAL gains. However, bear in mind that from the very moment exogenous androgens 'hit' your bloodstream they begin to activate ARs and the transcription process which leads to muscle mass begins right there... I mean, you begin acquiring skeletal muscle mass from the very beginning of your cycle. However, given the fact that such accumulation is progressive, you obviously need to reach a given level of 'muscle acquisition' in order to be able to perceive it visually.
Let's suppose that you begin using short acting esters & orals, with a good front-load, so that you achieve plenty blood androgen levels by day 1 or 2. At that time, you will begin accumulating skeletal muscle at a constant rythm throughout the following days/weeks. Let's assume that you get X grams of 'skeletal muscle' per day... at the end of a three week cycle, you should have acquired 21X grams of skeletal muscle. Maybe enough to be visually perceived, maybe not. Let's suppose 21X grams of skeletal muscle are not enough to be visually perceived and you decide to do a 8-week cycle... there you'd gain 56X grams of skeletal muscles which, in most instances, will be enough to be noticed visually both by you and by those who surround you. Then, there comes 'daddy post-cycle' and you lose, let's say, a 30% of your gains... which would leave you with 39X grams of muscle more than when you began your 8-weeker.
Let's now compare the 8-weeker scheme with the 2-weeker scheme... had you done four 2-weekers instead of an 8-weeker, AT THE END, after PCT, you should have acquired the same amount of muscle mass with either option. However, bear in mind that, taking into account that HPTA supression is much more mild with a 2-weeker, perhaps, at the end, you will retain more gains out of four 2-weekers. OF COURSE, if you just look for a brief period of time where you can 'display' the biggest amount of muscle mass the 8-weeker is the best option, because with the 2-weekers, even if you did four, you'd never reach the 56X extra grams of muscle mass that you'd get out of the 8-weeker 'cause in the middle of every 2-weeker there's a PCT where you are gonna lose some muscle....
CONCLUSION: If you are looking forward to getting the biggest amount of muscle mass increase during a given period of time, without giving a damn about what you are going to maintain then long cycles are for you. However, if what you are really looking forward to is in getting the most PERMANENT gains with the least possible side effect then short cycles are for you.
