- George Soros and Tom Steyerare funding the more extreme elements of the Democratic Party in competitive primary races.
George Soros, the hedge-fund billionaire with a passion for left-wing activism has a long history of funding the professional Left through his Open Society Foundations. Soros tries to work his will throughout international politics, funding left-liberal causes in Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. The scale of his interventions (Soros recently announced an $18 billion bequest to OSF, on top of his existing and non-foundation left-wing financing) has made use of his name a rallying cry of the Right.
Environmentalist Tom Steyer was already the highest U.S. political spenderin both the 2014 and 2016 election cycles. Using his Super PAC, the NextGen Climate Action Committee, Steyer contributes millions of dollars to support candidates pushing regulatory policies aimed at restricting energy use to combat climate change. The PAC has a long history of using Steyer’s financial weight to prop up political candidates and ballot measures, despite his fellow Democrats railing against Citizens United v. FEC (which affirmed the First Amendment Rights of organizations to engage in the political process). More recently, Steyer has targeted President Donald Trump, hoping to have him impeached, something some members of the Democratic Party leadership are trying to avoid.
Competitive swing states such as Florida, Colorado, Nevada, Maine, and Minnesota have been the focus of the hedge fund giants’ political spending this year. On the whole, Soros and Steyer seem to favor the less moderate and more radical candidates in the Democratic primaries. Steyer in particular took an interest in Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, Democratic nominee for Governor of Florida. Defying his usual no-interference policy during primary elections, Steyer spent over $800,000 in order to push Gillum, who he believes, “would represent a real step forward for Florida.”
The Democratic Party has steadily veered toward the political left due to the intense enthusiasm of young Democratic voters hostile toward the Republican-controlled Congress and President Trump. The popularity of Bernie Sanders and the unexpected successes of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are indicative of this phenomenon. Gillum tailored his platform to this far-left base, despite Florida’s traditional position as a “swing state.” He pushes Medicare for All, a $15-an-hour minimum wage, and a massive increase in public education spending through a $1 billion tax on the private sector.
Since Gillum’s primary victory, Steyer has already directed another $5 million into the general election and has been hastily registering students on University campuses through NextGen PAC. Already, it reports that more than 230,000 millennials have registered, indicating that capitalizing on this left-wing enthusiasm has real potential. Steyer himself has vocally adopted the rhetoric of the far-Left, recently stating that Republicans who supported Judge Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court nomination were “a group of very rich, very entitled white men,” which while a demonstration of little self-reflection, certainly shows Steyer’s adept appropriation of leftist talking points.
While the elections in Florida are particularly indicative of this ideological shift in the Democratic Party, Florida is only a proxy war for the reinvented political parties. For that reason, Soros and Steyer have invested heavily in Gillum, but the trend-setting donors certainly are diversifying their campaign portfolios. The two have come together to jointly fund a Super PAC that funds left-wing candidates in vulnerable states, State Victory Action. This well-known organization in Democratic circles, receives more than 70 percent of its multi-million-dollar budget from the two megadonors. As of October, Soros and Steyer have so far contributed $1.7 million through State Victory Action alone. But the IRS shows that the Super PAC has a war chest of over $14 million, a massive sum waiting to be spent in this election or in future campaigns.
Already, State Victory Action has donated $500,000 to support the Colorado Democratic nominee for Governor Jared Polis through a “527” independent expenditure committee, Good Jobs Colorado. KUSA, a local Colorado television station criticized the Super PAC for running a negative ad that falsely suggested that the Republican candidate Walker Stapleton missed crucial board meetings for the state public employees’ pension system to go golfing. The two megadonors also contributed $1.4 million to advertise against former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty (R), during the state’s Republican primary, which he lost by just over 28,000 votes. Outside of Minnesota, the State Victory Action Super PAC has already made contributions to elections in Maine, New Mexico, and Nevada.
Complaining about money in politics in many ways resembles complaining about the weather, it only really matters in extreme cases. Soros, Steyer, and other extremely wealthy donors keep the wheels of the Democratic political machine spinning. As The New Yorker writer Benjamin Wallace-Wells said about the mindset of Democratic candidates like Gillum: “The dream was that one meeting with Tom Steyer might get you a million dollars and spare you a hundred conversations with orthodontists, who each had a few thousand to give.” During this transition time within the Democratic Party, the fact that the party’s biggest donors have shifted to the left is an indication of what may come in the next political party alignment.

With the CARA coalition being officially announced last week, it was also reported by WND that other groups financially supporting the northbound Central American migrant caravans through Mexico include the Ford Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation and the MacArthur Foundation.
It was also stressed that there are deep ties between this left-wing activism attacking the border and corporate and foundation sponsorship, as Pueblo Sin Fronteras has been recognized as a member of the National Day Laborer Network – a group affiliated with United for Justice and Peace, Caravan Against Fear and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization.
“Alex Mensing is one of the organizers of the Pueblo Sin Fronteras group, [who is] serving as an official spokesman at the border,” WND informed. “While identifying himself as a paralegal at the University of San Francisco’s Immigration and Deportation Defense Law Clinic, he also works with CARA [and] regularly briefs leftist website and magazine Mother Jones – also a major recipient of Soros grants.”
The financial and political connections between Soros and the radical pro-immigration activist group was revealed last month.
“After following the money, it becomes clear where Mother Jones’ agenda lies,” Big League Politics (BLP) divulged last month. “A report from CNS News shows that Mother Jones has received immense funding from George Soros through the Foundation for National Progress, which has received over $1 million from George Soros.”
His interference with national borders is challenging numerous governments’ customs policies so that he can unleash his global mass-immigration movement, which is being countered across the globe.
“George Soros has a clear incentive for groups like Pueblo Sin Fronteras flooding into the United States,” BLP’s Luke Rohlfing added. “He has been pushing for more open immigration laws around the world, resulting in him being condemned by world leaders.”
Dems uniting with Soros to push pro-immigration platform
Cash-strapped Democrats are grateful for Soros’ deep pockets, as elected officials are happy to forward the billionaire’s anti-Trump, pro-immigration agenda.
“The Democratic Party links are also in strong evidence, [as] earlier this month, Oregon’s Democratic Governor Kate Brown accepted a contribution to her re-election campaign from Soros – his first direct involvement in that state’s elections,” WND noted. “Three days later, Brown announced the Oregon National Guard would not be participating in President Trump’s effort to get the Guard providing border security.”
Oregon Republican Chairman Bill Currier pointed out the leftwing conspiracy masterminded by Soros and funded by his deep pockets.
“Kate Brown has consistently ignored problems facing everyday Oregonians and has instead used the office of governor to make herself a national left-wing celebrity,” Currier contended, according to WND. “Now, Brown is cashing in and taking big campaign donations from notorious leftist puppet master, billionaire George Soros.”
Writing checks to mobilize the invasion of Western democracies to alleviate the so-called “refugee crisis” is something Soros has been doing for years.
“Soros pledged Sept. 20, 2016, to invest up to $500 million in programs and companies benefiting migrants and refugees ‘fleeing life-threatening situations,’” WND recounted.
Soros’ agenda works hand-in-hand with Pueblo Sin Fronteras’ initiative, which was formed to give preferential treatment to migrants – above and beyond that given to long-established citizens of numerous nations.
“We will invest in startups, established companies, social impact initiatives, and businesses started by migrants and refugees,” Pueblo Sin Fronteras declared in an official statement obtained by WND. “These investments are intended to be successful, but our primary focus is to create products and services that truly benefit migrants and host communities. I hope my commitment will inspire other investors to pursue the same mission.”
In fact, the very name, “Pueblo Sin Fronteras” – translated “People Without Borders” from Spanish – is derived from the group’s objective of “abolishing borders” – which was highlighted by the group when the caravans to the U.S. border started in March.
“We are a group of people from different nations, religions, genders, gender expressions and sexual orientations migrating and seeking refuge,” the organization’s March 23 press release stated. “We seek to become one collective, supporting each other shoulder to shoulder and demonstrating that by uniting, we can abolish borders.”
The caravan continues …
About 20 U.S. attorneys traveled across the U.S.-Mexico border to Tijuana over the weekend to give 400 Central American caravan migrants free one-on-one legal workshops, with some already illegally entering the U.S. to test Trump’s tough-on-immigration policies.
Corroborating Trump’s promise to uphold U.S. immigration laws, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen M. Nielsen assured American citizens that the administration has been tracking the San Diego-bound caravan with all due diligence.
“DHS continues to monitor the remnants of the ‘caravan’ of individuals headed to our Southern border with the apparent intention of entering the United States illegally,” Nielsen announced last week. “A sovereign nation that cannot – or worse, chooses not – to defend its borders will soon cease to be a sovereign nation. The Trump Administration is committed to enforcing our immigration laws – whether persons are part of this ‘caravan’ or not. If members of the ‘caravan’ enter the country illegally, they will be referred for prosecution for illegal entry in accordance with existing law. For those seeking asylum, all individuals may be detained while their claims are adjudicated efficiently and expeditiously, and those found not to have a claim will be promptly removed from the United States.”
Soros-led population shift
Soros has been busy over the past year using his billions of dollars to shift the world’s populations and set up his agenda across the globe.
“Last fall, Soros transferred $18 billion to the Open Society Foundations – the network of non-profits Soros uses to advance his globalist, borderless ideology both in the U.S. and around the world,” WND recounted. “The massive transfer – which was first reported by the Wall Street Journal – is roughly equivalent to the gross domestic product of Afghanistan, according to World Bank data. It is seen as a way for the 89-year-old Soros to avoid the estate tax – also known as the death tax – which penalizes large inheritances.”
And Soros’ repopulation legacy will not die out once he passes away.
“Inside Philanthropy reported in 2016 that Soros – who has said that he considers himself to be ‘some kind of god’ – began laying the groundwork for the foundation to continue his mission after he dies,” WND recalled. “Hacked Open Society Foundation documents published last summer shed light on the way in which Soros has used his foundation to advance progressive, open-borders policies – both domestically and abroad.”
Anti-law enforcement and anti-Trump groups inside America’s borders have also been funded by Soros, who has a long-established track record of attacking conservatives and biblical values.
“In the U.S., his foundation has provided funding for the Black Lives Matter movement and open borders activists,” the independent Internet daily continued. “The foundation has also provided funding to anti-Trump ‘resistance’ groups, funded opposition research on critics of radical Islam and attempted to influence Supreme Court rulings.”
It was also noted that next to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Soros’ foundation is the largest philanthropic organization in the U.S., as former President Barack Obama was noted to also have ties with the influential billionaire.
“Earlier this month, Judicial Watch obtained 32 pages of records showing the Obama administration sent U.S. taxpayers’ funds to a group backed by Soros, which used the money to fund left-wing political activities in Albania, including working with the country’s socialist government to push for highly controversial judicial ‘reform,’” WND added. “The records also detail how the Soros operation helped the State Department review grant applications from other groups for taxpayer funding.”
The government watchdog organization was able to access the records after utilizing the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) via a lawsuit it waged against the State Department and the U.S Agency for International Development.
“The new documents show USAID funds were funneled through that agency’s Civil Society Project to back Soros’s left-wing Open Society Foundations in Albania – particularly the Soros operation efforts to give the socialist government greater control of the judiciary,” WND explained. “USAID reportedly gave $9 million in 2016 to the ‘Justice for All’ campaign, which is overseen by Soros’s ‘East West Management Institute.’”

Laatste trieste boom met lampjes op de Nieuwe Binnenweg.
Kerstverlichting in bomen langs winkelstraten en de Coolsingel; wie kan daar nou iets op tegen hebben? Toch dreigen de sfeervolle lampjes binnen niet al te lange tijd uit het straatbeeld te verdwijnen, zoals ze inmiddels op de Nieuwe Binnenweg al weten. Daar is maar liefst vijftigduizend euro, die geïnvesteerd waren in het gezellig optuigen van de kale loofbomen, definitief verloren door toedoen van Gemeente Rotterdam. De West-Kruiskade wacht hetzelfde lot. En wij vragen ons af, hoe zit het dan met de Coolsingel?
Lennie Braun, de beroemdste medewerkster van supermarkt de Coop, vroeg zich af wanneer het nou weer eens gezellig kerst zou worden op de Nieuwe Binnenweg. In 2017 is alle kerstverlichting door de Gemeente Rotterdam weggesnoeid en/of doorgeknipt. Reden? De bomen moesten worden gesnoeid en, zo redeneerde de gemeente, de verlichting is van de winkeliersvereniging dus die moeten de verlichting maar even weghalen. Binnen een week.
50.000 euro schadeverlies Nieuwe Binnenweg
Even weghalen? Al die honderdduizenden lampjes moeten met de hand van de takken afgewikkeld worden. Dat is een enorme klus van weken wat tientallen duizenden euro’s kost. Dat heeft een doorsnee winkeliersvereniging niet op de plank liggen. Zeker niet als ze eerst zelf al die lampjes hebben moeten aanschaffen en doen inhangen.

Het snoeibedrijf kwam, zag, en knipte kilometers aan lampjes weg. Dag 50.000 euro. Dag, gezellige kerstsfeer Binnenweg.

Hetzelfde lot hangt de West-Kruiskade boven het hoofd
De West-Kruiskade is in de verdediging gesprongen. Adriaan Schaap (voorzitter Bizz) is al ruim een half jaar met de gemeente in overleg hoe te snoeien. Kan het misschien per boom bekeken worden? Kunnen takken van te voren gemarkeerd worden? Adriaan Schaap heeft zelfs een ZZP-er gevonden die eventueel de doorgeknipte draden weer kan koppelen.

West-Kruiskade heeft nu nog Kerstverlichting. Voor hoe lang?
Maar de dialoog wil niet echt vlotten en inmiddels is duidelijk dat ook daar de bomen gesnoeid zullen gaan worden en de verlichting gaat verdwijnen. Ook een schadepost van 50.000 euro.
Telkens stelt de gemeente de Winkeliersvereniging zelf verantwoordelijk voor de kerstverlichting. Maar hoe zit het dan met de Coolsingel waar voor tonnen en tonnen aan verlichting hangt. Daar is geen winkeliersvereniging die verantwoordelijk gesteld kan worden. Gaat daar aan tonnen euro’s belastinggeld over de balk gegooid worden? Want uiteindelijk zullen ook die bomen ook gesnoeid moeten worden. Wie gaat dat betalen?
