how would you rate the Heavy Duty HD-2 Power Rack compared to the Megatec one? from the specs it seems more solid. Since you sell both of them, you should have a good comparison..
Both racks are VERY popular for home use. You are right that the HD-2 rack has a more solid build than the MegaTec rack. The frame size (75 x 75 mm vs 60 x 60 mm) and the weight (115 kg vs 80 kg) speak for itself. This means the maximum weight capacity and stability of the HD-2 rack are a bit better than the MegaTec. However, the MegaTec rack has a higher build quality and finish.
Both Heavy Duty racks (HD-1 and HD-2) have great value-for-money. I think it will be very hard to find a power rack for these prices, that offers the same options and specs as the Heavy Duty racks. The options on these racks are very extensive, including a Monkey chin-up bar, dip bars, flip down spotter arms, resistance band pegs etc... This is also the reason why these racks are very popular and are always completely sold out within one or two weeks after they are back in stock. However, the low price of these racks also means that the finish isn't always that great. It might happen that not all parts fit perfectly into eachother during assembly, so it helps if you are a bit handy. The knurl on the chin-bars isn't always perfect, the paint will chip easier than a more expensive coating etc...
The MegaTec Power Rack on the other hand has a better build quality and a higher quality finish, plus some nice details. For example, the rack has J-Hooks instead of regular bar catchers, the J-Hooks and Spotter arms have a hard plastic cover for protecting the barbell and muting metal sounds, the dip bars are thicker in diameter, big rubber feet to protect the floor, the knurl is better, the paint coating is better etc... The specs and stability of the MegaTec rack are probably also more than enough for anyone using the rack at home.
So I think it would come down to personal preference: a bit more solid build or a higher quality finish. Personally I'd prefer the extra luxury of the MegaTec rack. It might also help that the MegaTec rack is in stock right now, whereas the HD-2 rack will not be back in stock for another month.
